Cultural Exchange Program

The U.S. Department of State has managed a cultural exchange program since the early 1960s called Work & Travel, designated as J1 Visa. Individuals between the age of 18-29 currently enrolled at a University in their home country are invited to visit the United States, up to 6 months depending on school schedule, and in turn are provided with a temporary work permit to help cover expenses.

Last year we Holy Terror Coffee contracted 31 students from 4 continents, 11 countries and 2 Island Nations to participate. We have dormitories for up to 57 about 15 minute walk from the restaurants, provide meals at no expense during their regular work shifts, and plan special events (the cultural exchange part).

For our business location that means a lot of hiking in Custer State Park (largest state park in the US) and visits to one of the 5 National Parks and Monuments within a 90 minute drive. We also sponsor University of SD summer theater program at the Black Hills Playhouse. 4 shows June-August produced by 65 theater major and post grad from all over the US.

We offer students the opportunity to live abroad and experience a different culture to its fullest.
